Is Sony Bravia The Top Rated LCD TV?

Consumers who are looking for the best Liquid Crystal Display Television (LCD TV) usually have several criteria in mind. They want not only a good picture for clear viewing reception at a competitive price but they also want the reliability of a receiver that will give them years of good service without requiring repairs or breaking down.

We heard from someone who replaced a 42-inch Sony WEBA with a Bravia. They observed the WEBA could not handle the fast action of sporting event broadcasts as the Bravia.

Sony Samsung and Panasonic are all excellent brands. One shopper who was having trouble making a choice among the three finally went to Best Buy intending to purchase a Samsung based on the fact he thought its color was more vivid and because there was a swivel base available. Eventually, however, they ended up buying a Panasonic. The conclusion was it was constructed more solidly than the Samsung, and it had a better quality picture than the Sony which was priced about $100 more.

The owner of a Panasonic TC-32LX85 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV reckoned that its picture was superior to their other set, a 42-inch Toshiba. Another feature they appreciate is the way the speaker is hidden and the quality of the sound it delivers.

Our conclusion is that Panasonic shines with their LCDs in the 26-inch to 37-inch range. When it comes to 40-inches and above, the choice switches to between Sony and Samsung. Sony may deliver better quality but you are going to have to pay extra for it. For those to whom price is no issue, we'd say go with Sony, but if it's value for price, then Samsung LN40A650 and LN46A650 look very attractive.

Depending on the viewer's preference, Sharp televisions should not necessarily be ruled out either. And for someone who has especially shallow pockets and is looking for a bottom line model at a fair price, the Insignia brand of LCD TV at Best Buy can be a fair value as well.
